Playing An Active Role in Our Community
Our synagogue in Huntingdon serves as the Hillel house for the Jewish students at Juniata College. Juniata College Hillel members are welcomed as members of Congregation Agudath Achim during their years at Juniata.
In 2015, the Hillel students helped to renovate the kitchen in our community hall. They use the space to host Friday evening gatherings and a brunch for Parent's weekend. |
Every Monday evening our two members, Bernie Bronstein and Stan Lembeck, collect the donations of unsold breads and pastries from the Panera store on
N. Atherton Street and deliver them on Tuesday to representatives of the Huntingdon Food Pantry on the Jo Hays Lookout on top of Pine Grove Mountain. |
We are apart of the religious community in Huntingdon working alongside: Most Holy Trinity Church, St. John's Episcopal Church, and Huntingdon Presbyterian Church. Agudath Achim has provided joint programming with these church's for Sunday School classes, commemoration of the Holocaust, and adult education in our Shabbatons.
